The history of books and libraries in The Philippines starts after the arrival of the Spaniards in 1521. During the Spanish era, most of the libraries were established through the religious orders to support their own religious mission. The Americans came in the beginning of the 20th century and have had a decisive influence on the education system and the development of libraries in The Philippines. For the analysis, I have used the models of Michael H. Harris and Magnus Torstensson in their studies of library development.

Thisthesis is a study of female politicians and power in Sweden and in The Philippines. Do thefemale politicians perceive that they have just as much power as the males have? I haveinterviewed 18 female politicians in a small city in Sweden, and 12 female politicians in thelocal and provincial politic in The Philippines.

Waste management is a major challenge for several countries around the world. Sweden and The Philippines have similar waste management legalization but different potentials to effectively achieve the goal of sustainable waste management. Education is the key to sustainable development and both countries promote the subject environment in the curriculum. Based on scientific articles, reports and personal meetings, a survey was conducted among 510 students from Gothenburg, Sweden and Iloilo City, Philippines. The survey aimed to investigate the knowledge, attitude and behavior regarding waste management and was analyzed to answer questions of possible reasons to differences and also, linkages to sustainable development.

Syftet med denna studie är att studera fenomenet snowbird, undersöka Filippinernas förutsättningar för turism för att till sist beskriva Filippinernas förutsättningar för svensk snowbirdturism.Uppsatsen utgår från ett kvalitativt angreppssätt genom både kvalitativa intervjuer och en kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Studien bygger på tio semistrukturerade intervjuer som tillsammans med en innehållsanalys av internetbaserade källor leder fram till studiens resultat.Studien har visat att Filippinerna har förutsättningar för en utveckling av svensk snowbirdturism. Genom studien har det även kunnat konstaterats att en problematik råder vad det gäller avståndet mellan Sverige och Filippinerna..

Syfte: Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur bilden av Dalarna förmedlas genom internet och massmedia.Frågställning: Hur ser Dalarnas platsmarknadsföring ut via Visit Dalarna? Hur förmedlar kommunikationsföretaget VisitSweden bilden av Dalarna till omvärlden? Hur förmedlas bilden av Dalarna i massmedia?Metod: För att svar kopplade till frågeställningen har en text- och bildanalys använts där icke sannolikhetsurval har legat till grund. Vidare har forskaren valt att använda hermeneutiken som förklaras som läran av tolkning. Studien är skriven utifrån en induktiv ansats där en kvalitativ metod används.Resultat: Efter att ha analyserat insamlad data blev slutsatsen att Dalarna har en platsmarknadsföring som stämmer överens mellan olika kanaler. Dessa kanaler förmedlar Dalarnas identitet med hjälp av texter och bilder.

Today we live in an interconnected world. Through globalization and the development of information technology one can say that, today everyone is our neighbour. The result of our actions can easily spread and affect people on the other side of the world within seconds.Meanwhile, Third World countries are developing into stable economies and Western European corporations are expanding like never before and setting up their organizations in these new markets.This of course is not unproblematic, it creates new challenges for international organizations especially when it comes to communication. An example of that same problematic communication presented itself for Arla Foods in what came to be called the Cartoon Crisis.In late September of 2005 a number of cartoons depicting the holy prophet Muhammed were published in a Danish newspaper. This event sparked scores of protest ranging from Morocco to The Philippines.
